Bike Highlight : Kona Sutra 2011 Touring Bike

I thought i'd jot down a few words about one of the bikes that has really caught our eye this year. Whilst possibly not the most fashionable bike or the lightest bike in the range , the Kona Sutra offers some riders the ultimate riding experience.

With off the shelf features such as front and rear racks , fenders , Bar end shifters and a tough butted steel frame. Its ready to tour from day one.

Kona have designed the sutra to be ready to ride in all conditions adding cable operated disc brakes into the mix and not just any old cable disc brakes either! Avid BB7 Road which in my opinion are pretty much the best , for ease of adjustment and stopping power.

The bar end shifters are connected to a low profile Shimano Deore XT Shadow Rear mech at the rear and a Shimano Tiagra at the front. Again a Shadow rear deraileur hasn't been picked just to sound cool, Shadow mechs are designed to be a low profile as possible so not as to catch on rocks and other obsticles. Some may feel you don't really need this feature on a touring bike but as i've broken a few mechs in my time and any help in clearance is always a good thing.

The wheelset is also pretty swish for the money, Shimano Deore Disc hubs which are nice and easy to service. The tyres are Continental Contacts which feature conti's safe guard system which is designed to keep you puncture free.

All in all we really like the Kona Sutra and feel its a cracking touring/Commutting/Do it all bike for the money. For a limited time were also offering a deal on them where you get £100 of free goods to go with the bike, Check out the Kona Sutra page here for full details.
